Intelligent Network is one of the platform to provide the value added services.The advantage of Intelligent Network is the easy deplyment of various services with the ambit of the existing Network. Intelligent Network provides a framework to create various services in a centralised place independent of the switch."Intelligent Network" services have been launched in Calcutta Telephones from May'1999. The new enhanced IN platforms are deployed in BSNL Network to provide various IN services withh added features.

The new IN systems provide redundant and fault resilient platforms so that there will be no interruption of the services due to the system fault.. Apart from this, the system provides the higher capabilities in terms of call handling and record storage. The integration of new technology switches provides the accessibility from all over India and the capability to handle more numbers of calls from any places in India. The service is also available from Delhi and Mumbai, which are served by MTNL.
