RECRUITMENT OF OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONS


BHARAT SANCHAR NIGAM LIMITED, CALCUTTA TELEPHONES propose to recruit 5 (five)
outstanding sportspersons (Male) for the year 2004 as per details given below :


                             1.    Games in which recruitment is proposed  :- 
                                                                (i) Football - 3 (three) Sportspersons ;
                                                               (ii) Kabaddi – 2 (two) Sportspersons.

2. Age limit.


Age limit for recruitment will be 18 to 25 years as on 01.06.2006. No relaxation in age should be given even in
exceptional cases.

There is no reservation or quota for SC/ST/OBC/PH/OH etc. categories nor any relaxation in age or
educational qualification to sportspersons belonging to these categories. The recruitment should be made purely on the basis of merit.

3. Educational qualification.

The Sports persons selected for appointment to a post should possess the minimum educational qualification
prescribed for the post.

4. The posts to which appointment will be considered, pay scale and the Minimum qualifications prescribed
    for them are given below :

II (a) Non-Executive Category (Gr. "C" equivalent post)
    (i) Telecom. Tech. Assistant   7100-200-10100     3years Engg Diploma in specified disciplines* & M.Sc. (Electronics)
                                                                                  from a recognized Institution/University.

  (ii) Telecom. Mechanic            4720-150-6970       10th Standard Pass + Trade certificate after completing 2 years
                                                                                  training course in Electronics/Instruments Technology/Electricals/Diesel
                                                                                  Mechanic/Radio Mechanic from ITI or an equivalent institution run
                                                                                  by the State/Central Govt.
 (iii) Driver ordinary Grade       4720-150-6970         8th Standard Pass & Driving Licence for light & heavy motor vehicle

 (iv) Senior Telecom.               5700-160-8100          Degree of a recognized University and Diploma/Certificate in Computer
      Operating Assistant                                              Applications/ programming duly recognized by the Dept. of Electronics
                                                                                  with a Speed of 8000 depressions per hour for data entry

   (Specified discipline as mentioned above means Telecom./Electronics/Electrical/Radio/Computer).

II (b) Non-Executive Category (Gr. "D" equivalent post) :

   (i) Regular Mazdoor          4000-120-5800         8th Standard Pass.

5. Minimum Sports Norms.
    (a)  For executive category posts (Group-B equivalent Post) :
           Sports persons should have represented the country as a Member of the Jr./Sr. Team
           in Olympic/World Cup/Asian Games/Asia Cup/Commonwealth Games and won 1st or 2nd
           or 3rd position in the team events in Sports discipline mentioned above.

   (ii) For non-executive category posts (Group-"C" equivalent Post) :
          Should have represented as a member of Jr./Sr. Team in prestigious International Tournaments.
          Such persons must have also medal winning performance in National Championships.

OR

  Should have represented Zonal team within the Country and obtained at least 3rd position
  in inter-zonal championship at All India level. The only exception will be for Kabaddi where
  4th position will also be taken into consideration.

OR

Should have represented a State in National Championships in Jr./Sr. Section and
obtained at least 4th position in team event.

OR

Should have represented University in All India Inter University Championships
(organized under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities) and obtained
at least 3rd position in team games.

OR

Should have represented State school team in National School games for
schools (conducted under the aegis of All India School Games Federation) and
obtained 1st position in team games.

(iii) For Non-Executive Category posts (Group-D equivalent Post) :

Should have represented State School/University/State Jr. or Sr. team in National School games/Inter-University Championship, Jr./Sr. National meets.

NOTE :

For recruitment to posts in the above categories, achievements as mentioned above should be in the immediate preceding 2 years of the advertisement shall only be considered and the sportsperson should be an active player.

For recruitment purpose only Sr. National, Jr. National will be taken into consideration. National Games, Rural Meets, Festival Meets and other similar tournaments will not be considered.

6. Sports persons fulfilling the above eligibility conditions may submit their applications in the following format with attested copies of certificates in support of age, educational qualification and achievements in sports so as to reach The Dy.General Manager (Admn.), O/O C.G.M., Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Calcutta Telephones, 8 Bentinck Street (3rd floor), Kolkata-700001 on or before 30.06.2006.

The envelope containing the application should be superscripted in bold letters as "APPLICATION FOR RECRUITMENT UNDER SPORTS QUOTA". Application receive after the date will not be considered.
